Normally when we post details of a used PRS Guitar onto our web site, we rave about the breath taking flamed maple tops and those luxurious gloss finishes, yet here we have a no frills, workmanlike, just plug in and play, used Swamp Ash model - Probably one of the most under-rated guitars on the market place with a performance and tonal versatility that is straight from the premier league, which when coupled with the PRS build quality and attention to detail, ensures a sure fire winning combination

Note the Fender-esq influences of a swamp ash body and a bolt on flamed maple neck/fingerboard, yet it still retains the PRS trademark and that is a set of abalone bird inlays - Fitted with a set of the PRS 14:1 ratio locking tuners, so add the PRS modern fulcrum tremelo for a package that not only will gives you a trouble free tuning package, it also has a nice smooth and positive feel about it

At the heart of the tone department you have a pair of PRS Swamp Ash humbuckers (based on the McCarty pick-ups) either side of a Seymour Duncan Vintage Rails - This is then controlled with a 3 way selector switch and a push/pull coil tap option on the tone pot - Due to the bolt on maple neck and swamp ash body, the natural tone of the Swamp Ash model is very much more lively than regular PRS models, with a very strong Straty flavour about it - Remember that if you fit a humbucking pick-up to a Strat, it does not suddenly sound like a Les Paul, it simply sounds like a fatter Strat, with increased mids and body, whilst retaining those sparkling, lively highs - Well that is precisley what the Swamp Ash offers you - Fat and lively Strat-esq flavoured tones - The humbuckers sound clear and sparkling on clean amp settings, yet introduce some gain into your amp and the Swamp Ash will enter into classic rock territory that most Strats can't get any where near, allowing you to deliver scorching lead tones with shed loads of bite and sustain - The tonal options already are more than worth the price of this Swamp Ash guitar, yet more is to come, as so far we have only used/discussed the 2 humbucking voices which are controlled like a Les Paul via the 3 way switch - Lift up the tone pot and this now brings the centre Vintage Rails into play, with the 3 way switching options now as follows:- bridge + vintage rails, bridge + vintage rails + neck/coil tap, vintage rails + neck/coil tap - This combination, produces far more traditional sparkling Strat flavoured tones, with awesome 'out of phase' voicings - From that point of view, if your playing is a mixture of syles, whereby you need to go from vintage classic Strat tones through to more modern rock tones, and you still wish to use the one instrument, then the Swamp Ash has to be a guitar you should try

This is a used model dating back to 2007, yet the black sunburst finish shows very few signs of use and is complete with the deluxe PRS case and tag - Note that this Swamp Ash features a flamed maple neck/fingerboard, which is an upgrade on the regular model
