Finding a used and original PRS 513 with the Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and neck is now becoming a rare event, so aren't we the lucky guys in acquiring this delightful example - With a 2006 date of birth, this is an early example, yet as we approach it's 7th birthday, you instantly notice how well it has been looked after - It is exceptionally clean without managing to acquire a 10 out of 10 badge, yet eagle eyed vision is still required to find a graze or blemish - The gold hardware is still in tip top condition, with just a hint of wear around the bridge saddles where you would rest the palm of your hand - Offered for sale complete with a clean deluxe hard shell case and tags

That scrumptious tightly flamed maple top, decked out in a lush blue matteo finish sure looks easy on the eye - One piece mahogany body - One piece Brazilian rosewood neck with a 25 1/4" scale length and a '513' neck profile - The 22 fret Brazilian rosewood fingerboard is impeccably embellished with a set of special 513 gold mother of pearl bird inlays - The headstock has a matching Brazilian rosewood headstock facia inlaid with gold mother of pearl PRS signature logo, and features a '513' inlay on the Brazilian rosewood truss rod cover - Gold hardware including a set of PRS 14:1 ratio locking tuners plus the PRS patented modern fulcrum tremelo system, incorporating a set of 6 milled brass bridge saddles - The easy to use integrated electronics package delivers 13 modern + vintage tones via the 5 proprietary pickups - The 5 way switch is a regular pick-up selector, whilst the 3 way 'mode' switch allows you to select between single coil, clear/vintage humbucking or modern/heavy humbucking modes

513 Performance characteristics
Whilst the PRS 513 is still available, wood supply and 'cities' issues dictates that we are not going to see PRS Guitars again that utilise a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and neck and that also applies to Private Stock models - Prices are already heading high, even in this climate, so don't be surprised to see prices double within the next 5 to 10 years - The 513 has a fairly unique neck profile within the PRS product range, with a nut width of 42.4mm ie just a tad slimmer than the best selling PRS wide/fat or wide/thin neck profile, more in keeping with the regular profile as found on some Custom 24 models, as well as the Al D and DGT signature models - As an overview it can be described as slightly fuller than a good vintage based Strat neck - With a Strat style 25 1/4" scale length, plus supplied and set-up from new with a set of 10's, the 513 has a slightly stiffer feel about it, compared with other PRS models - We've re-strung and set it up with a set of 9.5's, to ensure a slightly more slinky feel, but we can fine tune any set-up requests that you may have, hence now a fast fluid playing action awaits - String bending and controlled vibrato are effortless, due in part to the 10' fingerboard radius + medium jumbo frets, plus no choking when bending strings

The combination of the PRS tremelo system and locking tuners ensures trouble free tuning for all but excessive use of the trem arm - The tremelo itself has a nice, smooth, positive feel about it for both up and down movement

The guitar is worth its selling price alone, just on the tonal options that are possible from a 513 - The single coil tones that are available on the 513 are amazingly Strat-like, more akin to the warmer and darker tones found on a rosewood fingerboard 60's Strat, with crystal clear sparkling highs - Think along the lines of the soft Dave Gilmour Tone and a SRV 'Little Wing' tone - Are they exact DNA replicas of a Fender Strat tone? - Probably not, just different and I mean different in a good sense as there is not a definitive Strat tone anyway, as different periods have a slightly different flavour - Move the 3 way 'mode' switch to the middle position and the 2 x single coil pick-ups near the neck become a humbucker, as does the 2 x single coil pick-ups near the bridge - This new humbucker tone leans more towards the direction of a semi acoustic 335 style in that you have more clarity and less moody mids than is found on a Les Paul - Rich and warm in the neck position with a tad more bite and sustain in the bridge position with excellent articulation - Even playing chords around or above the 12 fret area, you have great string separation with a piano like chime - Remember that even with the 'mode' switch set in position 2 or 3 to deliver humbucking tones, by changing the 5 way pick-up selector switch to position 2 or 4, you can still get the classic 'out of phase' tones when used in-conjunction with the middle single coil pick-up - Finally when you move the 3 way 'mode' switch to position 3, the humbuckers now are hotter with more windings - This is the screaming more modern humbucking option, often prefered by contemporary or modern guitarist - Whilst you can use this tone on clean amp settings, they can sound a bit hard, yet add the overdrive on your amp or pedal and screaming lead tones, full of harmonics become appararent

This is not a jack of all trades, master of none, it is a very flexabile proffesional tool which should give any guitarists years of pleasure - On either of the tonal positions on the mode switch, you'll find the volume and tone pots very efffective and linear, in that back off on the volume pot and the tone will stay nice and clear, not mushy - This is very useful on overdriven amp settings, allowing you different degrees of expression, or even allowing an overdriven amp setting to clean up - All controlled via you and the guitar - Endless options, limited only by your imagination - This is the guitar that takes you from Little Wing, to Santana in just a few switch changes
