Used Gibson SG Special - gloss finish - wine red - 2003
#3976 - £599

Light playing wear is visible on this used Gibson SG Special, but considering it is now nearly 10 years old, there are no nasty stories, or bad dings etc - Just your average day to day playing wear - We have allowed the SG to sit on our work bench for a new set of 10 gauge strings, along with a check-up set-up, so from that point of view it plays exactly as you'd expect it to - Normally this model would have been shipped with a Gibson gig bag, but the previous owner upgraded this to a Gator moulded shaped case, so this is now included within the £599 price tag - Remember this is the SG Special with the shiny gloss finish, not the lower cost version with a satin finish
Essentially the SG Special is the SG Standard without the extra trimmings - A bit like buying your car without air con, alloys, colour coded bumper/wing mirror, leather seats and sunroof - ie same performance but less trimmings - As such the SG Special has no fingerboard binding, no mother of pearl Gibson logo, the SG Special has a transfer logo - No pick-ups covers, dot inlays instead of trapezoid inlays, no crest on the headstock facia - Otherwise the core of the SG Special is the same as its more illustrative brother, the SG Standard, hence same playing performance and tonal quality - The perfect blend of a classic Gibson with economy features/trimmings - So AC/DC, Paul Weller, Eric Clapton or Pete Townsend on a budget, this is the guitar - Also now take into account that at £599, this used Gibson SG offers more value per pound that you spend, than the very latest budget Gibson models that you can now buy with 'baked' maple fingerboards and sub-standard finishing/features and hardware
