When you can surrond yourself with such wonderful instruments, then owning Guitars4You is not such a bad job is it? - Even so, it is sometimes easy to be come a touch to blasé about how wonderful the guitar world is today - And despite all the bull, myth and legend surronding old guitars from the 'glory' days, in truth guitar building has never been better - The selection and quality of guitars that is now available to todays player and collector is incredible - With all of this mind, we still get plenty of 'wow moments' when a customer walks into our showroom and opens up his black guitar case - So imagine our pleasure when we first set our eyes on this used Suhr Carve Top Standard - Very Knopfler-esq, albeit without the Floyd Rose, which to me is a major asset - Yes it is used, but please use the word 'used' in a very liberal manner - With one very careful and discerning previous owner this Suhr is in remarkable clean condition - Certainly the game of 'hunt for the blemish' will be a long, drawn out affair - You may well find a hint of a graze as I never believe any used guitar is 100% perfect, just damn close to that statistic - Guitars4You have priced this Suhr at £2890 and that includes the deluxe Suhr hard shell case along with the Suhr spec sheet/dealer order

Your eyes have probably already suggested to you that this is indeed a remarkable instrument with a 'Private Stock' graded quilted maple top, that simply looks divine with a bengal finish - Yet when it comes to the all important issues of tone, feel and playability, then take it from me that in this instance, looks are just the icing on the cake - The rear of the neck has a thin satin finish, so from day one it feels played in - Whilst the neck has the feel and vibe of a very comfortable Strat, the playing experience is slick and wonderful and instantly feels on home turf - The 10"-14" compound fingerboard radius ensures a comfortable feel for chords, near the top nut end, yet as you progress up the fingerboard, the radius levels out, to ensure a very fluid action is possible with effortless string bending and no choking out - If your playing technique allows you to enter the world of guitar gymnastics, then this is indeed the type of guitar that will enrich your performance - If like many of us, you wish to own an instrument that is so magnificent and this allows you to dream of how much better you can become as a player, then all well and good, as in reality this is where most of us live - Bottom line, this is an instrument that can only inspire you to greater things

The natural tone of the guitar is clear and crisp with a lively vibe about - As an overview the tone is very traditional Strat based, with the bridge humbucker deliver fat screaming lead tones, as required - Two excellent 'quack/out of phase' tones should more than please the Knopfler fans - Play it through clean, or subtle blues/rock overdriven amp settings and you can hear the Suhr talk back to you - It possesses a nice quick response with plenty of dynamics, which allows the guitar to respond to your needs - Hence stroke the strings for a soft seductive tone, or dig in and attack the strings for more bite and aggression - Load the amp up with gain and it is hard to find the Suhr letting you down - Hit the big power chords and the sound is nice and tight, or let it rip for screamin' lead tones - There is plenty of depth and body to the tone in all settings, hence no weedy thin tones here - No one guitar does it all, but this is guitar that can do a lot
