As it stands, PRS have launched the DGT Standard as a limited edition model only - Who knows if at a later date it will be offered within the PRS price list on a regular basis - I hope so - Furthermore PRS have now closed the order book on this model, so what we have left in stock is all we'll have available - So on that basis cast your eyes over our DGT Standard Mahogany Limited Edition model with a super cool sea foam green finish

Regular customers and visitors to our web site will know that I hate just cutting and pasting some product info from the manufactures web site on to our web pages, Amazon style, as it contributes no soul or passion to the product you are selling - However this time I have to succumb, so click here to visit the PRS web site, read the quote from Dave Grissom himself, then make sure you watch the 2 excellent video clips as this information nearly provides you with the full story

In true Guitars4You manner we can embellish the story a touch further with regard to product info as well as the all important tone, feel and playability factors Feel/Playability

Set-up and playability - The PRS DGT is factory set-up with a set of 11's as per Dave's requirements - A set of 11's may well put the fear of God into some customers - Yet thanks to a set of Dunlop 6100 jumbo frets, then 11's do not feel so heavy and many customers have questioned that they are infact playing a set of 11's - Over the last few years I have sold a number of DGT models - Some customers stick with 11's, some have asked us to set it up with 10's, which we are more than happy to do for you, as and when required - Many customers have initially tried the 11's, changed to 10's, yet have quickly gone back to 11's - My advice is to try the 11's and see how you get on - The big plus of a set of 11's is the tone - The extra string tension from a set of 11's sure grab holds of the neck and makes it vibrate which correspondingly adds a noticeable improvement to the natural acoustic tone ,that you'll hear on the DGT - It simply rings more with a big fat tone, that you'll fully appreciate when you eventaully get round to hooking the DGT up to your amp - Granted a set of 11's might not feel quite as quick to pull off some big bends, but they do not feel as stiff as you might at first fear - Certainly the jumbo 6100 frets compliment a set of 11's, to offer a well balanced package with regard to feel and playability

Partial coil tap on the DGT - On the tone pot you have a push/pull coil tap option to deliver some excellent single coil flavoured tones - The conventional way to coil tap a humbucker is that you effectively split the pick-up in half, which leaves you with one 'weak' single coil pick-up that delivers a pretty thin and weedy tone, as such it is not particularly useful - On select models, including the DGT, PRS now utilises a couple of resistors to effectively offer a partial coil tap, which has no impact on the full blown humbucking tone, yet ensures more windings are now available for the single coil tone, as such they sound far more realistic with plenty of depth, snap and clarity with an improved response - Check this out on the Dave Grissom video as he plays some cool Texas/SRV licks - So as against only having access to the 3 regular humbucker voices, the partial coil tap options ensures the DGT is a very verstaile package and is often dubbed 'the guitar players PRS'

Two volume controls - The large majority of PRS models feature a single master volume control, to control both pick-ups, but the DGT offers 2 volume controls and of course a master tone pot - Leave the 3 way selector switch in the middle position, then dial in, or roll off either of the volume pots as required and as you play around with this option, listen to the finer nuances of tone that is available to you - Subtle yet very effective - Utilise the bridge pick-up, but now add a touch more depth and thickness to this tone from the neck pick-up - Or indeed take the neck pick-up and dial in a touch of edge and brightness from the bridge pick-up - That is not the end of it - Try the same with the coil tap options and you'll find some excellent Tele-esq and Strat-esq voices - As I mentioned earlier, the DGT is 'the guitar players' guitar

Finally, as per the quote on the PRS web site from Dave, the DGT Standard has a nice growl to it that you'll find on a good Les Paul, coupled with clear warm highs, full clear lows and tight focussed mids, coupled with plenty of sustain and fat, smooth lead tones - Overall the DGT standard is loaded with soul, tone and emotion
