Let's peruse this fine PRS from 3 different angles - An overview, Brazilian Rosewood and Artist Pack

Overview - It is now around 8 years ago that PRS reached their 20th anniversary of crafting exceptionally fine instruments - To celebrate this event, existing models received a number of cosmetic tweaks and upgrades and became available in the anniversary format for a 12 month period - So please note that delightful emerald green finish that is perched on top of the Artist Pack graded flamed maple top and represents a vision of beauty which few other guitar makers can match - Also note the translucent dark green finish on the mahogany body and neck, which compliments the emerald green top - Generally PRS models that are finished in emerald green, received a solid black finish on the body/neck, so in this instance a few extra points to PRS, as they try to entice us in to parting with our hard earned funds - Condition wise this guitar is very very clean - First viewing will probably only reveal the slightest hint of any playing wear and tear - As such a second tour is required if you are hell bent on finding a blemish and with good vision you might find one - Re-strung and set-up with a new set of 10's and a fluid playing action - Priced at £2499 including the deluxe Artist Pack case and eagle tag

Artist Pack option - You may well be already smitten by the 'Artist Pack' grade flamed maple top, but please spend a few more minutes gazing over some of the Artist Pack features that captivate us - The special 20th anniversary paua bird inlays with brown lip mother of pearl wisps are impeccably inlaid on the Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, whilst paua is again utilised on the headstock facia for the PRS signature logo - Gold hardware is also part of the artist pack option, as is the deluxe PRS artist pack case - The 'Artist Pack' optional extra represented around a £700 upgrade and was available on most PRS Guitars - Around 2008 PRS decided to delete this optional from their price - However, we now jump to the summer of 2012 and PRS have now once again decided to offer it as an optional extra on select models - Bottom line, a new 2012 Artist Pack loaded Custom 24 , will cost at least £3500 and that won't include the Brazilian rosewood option

Did we just mention Brazilian and 20th anniversary ??? - We sure did - This is a 2005 model and as such represents 20 glorious years of guitar building by PRS, hence the special 'anniversary' inlays which where only available for around 12 months on select PRS guitars, along with the '20th' engraved truss rod cover - Furthermore 2005 was the year that Brazilian rosewood was re-introduced onto the PRS artist pack models for both the fingerboard and the headstock facia - We now move on a few years and have to accept that due to various eco and cities issues the days of buying any new guitar (note the word 'any') with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard have gone so models like this are going to steadily rise in value and become highly sought after, so be warned - these are the vintage guitars of the future
