Guitars4You would like you to peruse the following information, pics and details regarding this used, 2012 Gibson Les Paul '59' Historic Reissue with a lightly aged Ice Tea finish - Please note that whilst legally we have to call it a 'used' guitar, it is only a few weeks old - The serial number indicates a 2012 date of birth and this is supported with an e-mail to me, from Gibson's customer service - Why did he sell it I hear you ask ?- He is a Fender man and as such it is fair to say a LP did not work out for him - Offered for sale, complete with brown lifton case and all the appropriate tags and wallet/certificate

Vintage mojo and all that vibe
- How do you want to judge the desirability, quality and performance related issues of a '59' replica ? - Ultimately beauty is in the eye of the beholder so whilst I can point out the merits of an aged Ice Tea finish that sits upon an appertizing curly flamed maple top, you know what floats your boat - The thin nitro finish is lightly aged throughout, including the headstock facia, so the guitar possesses plenty of vintage mojo and shed loads of character - As time goes on a new shinny gloss finish will open up and allow the guitar to breathe and become more resonant as the years go by - An aged finish sounds played in from day one and even after strumming one chord, you can clearly hear it is rich in harmonics with an excellent natural acoustic ring to it - Sat there in its brown lifton vintage case it is begging to be picked up and played and that is when the going just gets better - Aged guitars are there to be played and this is definitely not your archetypal 'under the bed, don't touch it' guitar

That all important tonal quality
- I know it looks scrumptious but you just wait until you play it - The full neck is comfortable enough to allow you to play it, yet it adds so much to the tone - If you want a 95 mile per hour speed machine then buy a PRS, but this LP is about that classic fat tone and a full neck is all part of the vintage vibe - When you have a tone that is so full of soul and emotion then why do you want to rush on to your next note so quickly - Savour it and let your ears indulge in all the emotion that only such guitars deliver - The neck pick-up waillllllls - It's fat and warm with a vocal quality that is hard to devine, but you know your ears just love it - Each note blossoms and chords have a clear note separation - Roll off the tone pot for a more moody tone - The bridge pick-up bites and growls at you, again with enough mids to thicken up the tone, so it is not short of body and depth - With the volume pot left on 10, the bridge pick-up will drive the amp for you, so 'roll off' the volume pot for a softer more 'vintage' based tone (just like most of your guitar heros do) - Playing around with the guitar and amp, from clean to overdriven amp settings, you'll find that the volume and tone controls on the guitar work beyond just the '10 wide open' setting - Slight adjustments of the guitars volume and tone controls produce nice subtle tonal variations and as such they allow you to control the tonal voicing of the amp from the guitar itself, hence you get so much more emotional control, soul and passion out of the guitar - Overall this '59' is very responsive to how you want it to perform - Like many good Les Paul's it sits nicely under the 9lb level, but this extra ounce or two adds to the guitars depth of tone - A LP Standard that has a lighter body tends to deliver a tone that is also lighter in body

There are poor Les Paul's and there are good Les Paul's, then there are a few top flight, top of the class, prized examples - There is no mistaking which category this LP sits in
