Spec and details are as follows :- 3 tone aged nitro chocolate sunburst finish on a premium grade alder body - Single ply pick guard with 8 screw holes - 3 Master Built designed vintage single coil pick-ups controlled via a 5 way switch, master voulme pot, tone for neck and tone for bridge/middle - All vintage spec'd hardware and all aged accordingly - 1 piece maple neck, with thin skin nitro aged tinted lacquer - 21 Dunlop 6105 narrow/jumbo frets and a 9'5" modern fingerboard radius - Regular Strat nut width - 50's soft V profile - The neck is tagged as having a large V profile, yet whilst it has some girth to it it ain't chunky to the point that it is a handful, yet more important it has a comfortable feel and playing vibe to it - As an overview, fat neck equals fat tone - The chunky frets and modern 9.5" fingerboard radius ensure it is a peach to play and even with a set of 10's (as supplied) string bending is nice and easy - Set up with a nice fluid playing action to allow those rehearsed tasty licks to be shown off with ease, or dig into those big blues bends as required
Play it un-plugged and it rings with a lively acoustic tone - Plugged in and you instantly realise that this guitar has plenty of snap and shimmering highs, coupled with warm clear lows, plenty of body and warmth - Neck pick-up is as soft and sweet as you'll hear - Instantly Hendrix and Gilmour at its very best - The bridge pick-up has plenty of body to it and of course that Strat bite that can attack and snarl as required, yet retains its warmth, so not to sound brittle - The addition of the tone pot now on this pick-up allows you to roll of the highs a touch, especially on overdriven amp settings, to deliver a softer voicing - 2 excellent 'out of phase' voices that are loaded with 'quack' - Play it on a clean amp setting or better still on a blues based overdrive amp setting and you'll find out that the pots allow you to roll off volume and/or tone to find those magical sweet spots - The tone can be cleaned up nicely, without losing highs or lows - This now gives you so much emotional control over your playing - In fact much of the time you can play it at around 4-7 on the volume pot and wind it up to 10 when you need that little bit extra - This Strat oozes quality out of every pore with regards to tone and dynamics - All Strats might look the same/similar, but not many sound this good - The nitro 3 tone chocolate sunburst finish reflects the transistion period as Fender moved away from the 2 tone finish that had been around for the previous 4 years - The body is well worn with plenty of character - The fingerboard has the usual worn patches that you can see, whilst the rear of the neck is worn around the first few frets, but retains a thin satin lacquer along the rest of the neck
